Vestal's past calls to mind the one time Indian village of "Chugnut" (Choconut), the campaign of General Sullivan, Indian trader Amos Draper, settlement by Revolutionary War soldiers, "Crane's Ferry" to Union, lumbering, mills, farming and the 1881 railroad.
The Town of Vestal is located in the southern part of Broome County in the state of New York. We are 26,535 people strong with 53 square miles in area.
Vestal as we know it today is a young, dynamic, and still developing town. Vestal's largest employer, Binghamton University (a part of the State University system) is located in Vestal with 12,000 students.
