Summer Sports Camps 2016  

Enjoy the choice of eleven different sports camps this summer. The camps listed below include: Baseball, Co-Ed Soccer, Girls Advanced Soccer, Co-Ed Basketball, Girls Lacrosse, Boys Lacrosse, Cheerleading, Softball, Volleyball, Field Hockey, and Basketball Shooting and Conditioning. To register for ANY of these camps below, you can print a registration form. Look under "Registration Form" at the left.

 

Baseball Camp
The camp will cover all baseball fundamentals, including the offensive elements of the game: hitting, bunting, and base running. The defensive elements: catching, throwing, fielding, and fielding by position. Pitching mechanics and demonstrations. Open to boys and girls. Participants must provide own glove, sneakers, or cleats.

Dates: July 5 - 8 - Tuesday - Friday

 Co-Ed Soccer Camp
Learn soccer skills and tactics in an instructional environment that is challenging and fun! The focus of the camp will be to develop skills of the game through many exciting activities. Skills taught will include: ball control, passing, receiving, shooting/finishing, and goal keeping. Individual defending and attacking skills and tactics will also be covered. Both boys and girls are welcome and participants will be grouped according to age. Bring a  water bottle with your name marked on it. Wear shin guards and sneakers or plastic cleats (no sandals).

Dates: June 27 - July 1 - Monday - Friday

 Girls Advanced Soccer Camp
This camp will include advanced techniques and tactics taught in small and large group game situations. Instruction is designed to meet the needs of high school athletes. The latest in strength and condition training will be used each day. Techniques (skills) necessary to compete at the high school level and beyond will be taught and reinforced through drills and games. Positional roles in different offensive and defensive team strategies will be emphasized. Instruction from highly qualified coaching staff with college soccer experience.

Dates: August 1 - August 5 - Monday - Friday

Co-Ed Basketball Camp
Learn all phases of basketball this summer. Skills include: dribbling, passing, foul shooting, rebounding, and shooting. Individual and team skills will be stressed with fun while learning. Open to boys and girls. Participants will be divided by age and ability.

Dates: July 11 - 15   Monday - Friday

 Girls Lacrosse Camp

Dates: July 11 - 14     Monday - Thursday

Camp 1 - Future Stars Introduction to Girls Lacrosse Camp
Grades 4th and UP

 This camp is for players' grades 4 and up who wish to learn the skills necessary to play the fantastic game of lacrosse. This will be a fun introduction to the various skills and basic concepts that young players need to begin their lacrosse careers...No previous experience necessary for this group. Basic stick skills with proper techniques will be taught and reviewed with progressions that will allow all partcipants to begin to enjoy the feel of the stick. Participants will have the opportunity to take these skills and concepts home with them to continue to improve on their own and to develop their game. This camp will be taught by players and coaches who will generate enthusiasm and fun for all participants through creative drills and activities.   Act. #360502-1A

Camp 2 - Golden Bear Development Lacrosse Camp
Grades 4th - 9th

This camp is designed to bridge the gap between an introduction camp and the high level camps that focus on players with many years' experience. This camp will enhance personal skills and techniques and will incorporate basic team strategies necessary to perform at a higher level. This camp is perfect for players' grades 4-9 who can demonstrate some basic skills of passing and catching and who want to enhance thier own game. Skills such as the 8 meter shot, ground balls, basic dodges, on and off ball defensive positioning, simple slides, shooting techniques, and a basic motion type offensive pattern will be introduced and developed. The camp instructors will teach in a small group setting to ensure a productive, fun experience. Players in this camp will be able to take home a new understanding with many ideas to work on to perfect their own game.Act. #360502-1B 

Camp 3 - Learn To Be A Goalie Camp (limited space)
This unique and exciting training camp is designed to train goalies in grades 4 - 8.  The head instructor of this goalie camp is Nicole Leska who is the most highly recruited goalie in Vestal history. Nicole has achieved US Lacrosse High School All-American status, and has played in the US Lacrosse National tournament three times. She has also participated in the NYS Chmapionship Tournament as the goalie for the Vestal High School Golden Bears. Each participant of this camp will learn the techniques of stick positioning, footwork, body positioning, clears, and goalie crease rules. The small group format insures individual attention and will be a great experience for each young goalie. The camp can provide some goalie equipment on a limited basis. Act. #360502-1C

Please Note: Participants must provide girls lacrosse stick and lacrosse goggles. Goalie gear and mouth guards are provided.

Boys Lacrosse Camp
Learn all phases of lacrosse this summer. Skills include: passing, catching, cradling, scooping ground balls, shooting, dodging, defensive and offensive strategy, face-offs and goal keeping.

Dates: July 25 - 29       Monday - Friday

Director: Gordie Pollard

Times: 9:00 - 11:30 AM

Ages: 7 -14 years (Participants divided by age) 

Cost: $55.00 Resident  $65.00 Non-Resident

Includes: T-shirt, one week swim pass, lacrosse ball, awards, games and pizza party. Goalie sticks, gloves, helmets, shoulder pads and mouth guards are provided.
Please Note: Participants must provide lacrosse stick and arm pads.

Cheerleading Camp
Spend a fun filled week of dancing, cheering, and jumping. Girls will learn basic arm motions, jumps, as well as an original dance and cheer. Participants will be working on the fundamentals every girl should know before trying out at the CYO or high school level. This camp is a great opportunity to learn if cheerleading is the sport for you!

Dates: June 27 - 30 - Monday - Thursday

Ages: 5 - 10 years (Participants divided by age)

Softball Camp
This camp will cover all softball fundamentals, including: The offensive elements of the game: hitting, bunting, and base running. The defensive elements: catching, throwing, fielding, and fielding by position. Introduction to beginning or advanced pitching mechanics. Participants must provide their own glove, running shoes or cleats. Bring a bat if you have one.

Dates: July 5 - July 8 - Tuesday - Friday

Times: 9:00 - 11:30 AM

Ages: 8 - 15 years (Participants divided by age)

Volleyball Camp
Learn the fundamentals of volleyball. They include: bumping setting, serving, and game situations through fun drills and game play. Open to boys and girls. Attended primarily by girls.

Girls Field Hockey Camp
Participants will learn field hockey skills in a challenging and fun environment. The camp will focus on skill development through exciting drills and games. Skills taught will include: dribbling, passing, receiving, positioning, shooting and goal keeping. The older session includes advanced skills, drills for specific situations, conditioning techniques and game play.

Dates: August 1 - 5    Monday - Friday

Join us for the developmental shooting program for boys and girls. Includes: sports plyometrics and conditioning techniques.
