            Re: Front Street Reconstruction

           

The Town of Vestal will be starting the reconstruction of Front Street on Monday 7/12/10.

The scope of work is as follows:

 

1)      Remove and replace all curb, starting at Wright Road all the way to the Park, at 4 corners.

2)      Remove and replace sidewalks at certain intersections to make them handicap compliant.

3)      Remove and replace certain sidewalks that are deemed unsafe.       

4)      Remove and replace driveway aprons (section of your driveway that meets our curb) as necessary.

5)      Mill roughly 1 ½” to 2” of the existing blacktop surface off the entire length of Front Street and install a new 1 ½” layer.

            6)   Install a new blacktop surface between the new curb and existing sidewalk.

            7)   Top soil and seed any lawn that was disturbed.

           

            The property owner or business will be asked to do the following:

 

1)      Remove your vehicles from your driveway prior to the curb removal. You will not be allowed to drive over the newly poured curb for approximately 3 days.

2)      Do not park on the side of the road where curb work is being done. Orange cones will be placed out the night before indicating the next days work zone area. Only 1 side of the road will be done at a time.

3)      Sidewalk contracts will be distributed to the owners of the sidewalk that are deemed unsafe and are to be replaced. The contracts will stipulate the homeowner’s cost for their 50 % share of the sidewalk expense. The price will be roughly $2.00 a square foot.

 

This project is expected to last until the end of August.
